And regarding Davidson, it is a super cool move on the part of the administration and trustees. WLS is right, however, that it is only practical because Davidson is a relatively small school. Can you imagine the University of Texas doing this for its 50,000+ students?

Not all could be accommodated. Not enuff tix. Not enuff buses/transpo.

This is a BoT that gets it. They should win an ESPY, at the least.

Announcers said that average attendance at Davidson home games included 75% of the student body. Very impressive, imo.

By my count, there are 48 Trustees of Davidson College. That’s $2100 apiece and it may not be deductible. I think that’s pretty impressive, especially on such short notice.

As for the Davidson trustees paying — it helps that Davidson has only 700 students. Its really a small high school.

Here’s another item for the feel good sports file.

The article doesn’t make this clear, but if my memory is correct, Conine is the only player who
1) was on both of the Marlin’s World Series teams
and
2) was the only original Marlins player to be part of either World Series teams
