Well said, Sherlock. Even American Democrats can conclude the situation in Basra and the south will extend to the rest of the country if we declare victory and leave. Brown and the British are a joke, a very bad joke. The rest of old NATO is worse.

I don't know if it's the final showdown or just another blip between cease-fires, but it does sound like the "divide and conquer" strategy is working.

The Times completely ignored the fact that this completes one of the "mileposts" they have been demanding. The Shiite government is taking on Shiite militias. It may even explain why Maliki has dragged his feet with the Sunnis. Keep his street cred with the Shia until Sadr is finished off.

Two simple questions for the media:

1. Remember how you patiently explained to us how Brits were so much smarter than the US in using "soft" power in the area of Iraq they had responsibility for?

2. What was that area, again?

Wasn't one of the trio on the threads about Iraq earlier complaining that the Iraq operation had put a pro-Iranian Shiite in charge of Iraq? This story should pull a lot of wind out of his sails, but the BDS was too strong.
