Linda Greenhouse on Her Way Out
The AP:
Linda Greenhouse, who has covered the Supreme Court for The New York Times for 30 years, said Wednesday that she has accepted a buyout package from the newspaper.
So long, and thanks for all the conflicts!
Thanks to Bradley J. Fikes.
It appears Ed Whelan may have broken the news here.

If we pool our money can we get Krugman to accept a buy-out as well?

Funny how the buyout offer comes on the heels of all the controversy about not disclosing her husband’s involvement in a couple of the detainee cases.
I wonder if the view of the editors was “We don’t need this, and there are lots of reporters who would probably like to cover the SC where she has been for 20 years.”
I see nothing in the reporting here and elsewhere to suggest this is a situation where “There are other things I want to do in this business, blah blah blah”. It might really be a shove out the door.

Bullshit. She is going to spend the rest of the term there. She is no way chastized, just bored with getting called for crappy reporting. This is just the powerful going off to relax with a golden parachute, having done their duty to spin the court for us yokels for many years.

As long as the NYT is under its’ current ownership, there will always be a surplus of litter.
Only in NYC could you pile crap that high.

So the NYT will substitute a new turd for the old one. I wonder if they hired stef for the job.
