Let the Politically-Based Gender Wars Begin

[Guest post by DRJ]

Another (small) reason I won’t vote for Hillary: Because Sally Field may be right when it comes to liberal women:

“Sally Field praised mothers when she won an Emmy for lead actress in a drama series but also let her anti-war sentiments surface with a God-related swear word. “And, let’s face it, if the mothers ruled the war, there would be no (expletive) wars in the first place,” Field said.”

More Sally here and video from Hot Air. In addition, I think Dr. Helen and I are on the same page.

I don’t like war and I don’t want our nation to go to war but I want a President who accepts that war is an option and, sometimes, even necessary.

  1. I’d like to ask Sally Field who she thinks raises the children who grow up to be suicide bombers and “honor” killers. Talk about blind sexism.

  2. From Plutarch: The young Spartan complained to his mother that the sword she gave him was too short. And she answered: “Go closer [to the enemy]”.

  3. So is it the belief of liberal woman that there is nothing worth fighting for or dying for?

    Perfect Sense (b6ec8c)

  4. You don’t like war? That’s a stunner. There’s a huge romance with war in certain conservative circles. It never ceases to amaze me how excited these people are about the idea of sending people out to kill other people. They get all choked up and teary-eyed about it, they celebrate it, they can’t wait for the next one. War — gotta have it, can’t live without it, don’t want anybody to criticize it. Bloodthirsty, that’s what it is. A mindless, binary worldview.

Ya’ll are already salivating over the next bloodbath in Iran — over at Malkin, the commenter’s can’t wait for the bombs to start falling.

  5. So only one type of crass stereotype is forbidden on Patterico?

    alphie (99bc18)

  6. Great. Two trolls, two mindless personal attacks. Hey, morons. The issue is suicidal liberalism as expressed by Gidget. Now I’m inclined to believe that a Stalinist (which Hillary is) is not a liberal and when Hillary sells us out to Russia or China it won’t be because of insane pacifism. But would you like to address the issue DRJ brought up instead introducing extraneous noise?

    nk (2f5778)

  7. “instead of introducing extraneous noise”

    nk (2f5778)

  8. There is merit to the idea that the Clintons are capitalists-on-steroids when it comes to selling access and secrets.

    DRJ (ec59b5)

  9. Ya’ll are already salivating over the next bloodbath in Iran…

Sorta like “Screw them” Kos commentators salivating over dead Americans?

    Perfect Sense (b6ec8c)

  10. Well, nk,

I don’t see how DRJ’s post is any less offensive than the one Justin posted about Jews yesterday.

But, its not my call about which slanders are left up here. Consider this my vote that this post should be removed in the same spirit as Justin’s was.

Magaret Thatcher, Indira Gahndhi and Golda Meir all took their countries to war, so it would seem there is no data to support DRJ’s smear.

    alphie (99bc18)

  11. Alphie,

I am concerned about the willingness of liberal American politicians – particularly female liberals – to go to war to protect American interests. If Patterico considers this a smear and he doesn’t want it at his website, I’m sure he will handle it.

    DRJ (ec59b5)

  12. DRJ,

Can we assume you applauded “liberal” Bill Clinton’s bombing of Bosnia, then?

    alphie (99bc18)

  13. Alphie,

You have a problem distinguishing between things. Liberal morons like Gidget and women of worth like Margaret Thatcher for one thing. And shit and shinola for another.

    nk (2f5778)

  14. SALLY FIELD FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!

    David Ehrenstein (b35c9c)

  15. Alphie,

I supported Clinton in Bosnia because he was the President and Commander-in-Chief but I don’t understand what American interests he was protecting.

    DRJ (ec59b5)

  16. By the way, Alphie #9, do you consider Margaret Thatcher liberal?

    DRJ (ec59b5)

  17. Well, DRJ,

She is for gay rights, legal abortions and national health care.

Whre does that fit into the American political spectrum these days?

    alphie (99bc18)

  18. Alphie:

She is for gay rights, legal abortions and national health care.
Whre does that fit into the American political spectrum these days?

Except for the national health care part, your characterization of Margaret Thatcher sounds a lot like Giuliani. So I’d still have to call her a conservative.

Of course, you forgot to mention Margaret Thatcher also supported lower taxes, law and order, more emphasis on the family, and a strong Britain in defence and trade. You know, the traditional conservative platform.

    DRJ (ec59b5)

  19. “Traditional” conservatives support balanced budgets, so we don’t saddle our children with debt, DRJ. Taxes are just a function of how much we decide to spend each year.

Let’s not smear Maggie by saying she’s a supporter of the neocon’s voodoo economics pro-rich tax policies, eh?

    alphie (99bc18)

  20. Alphie,

The link I provided is to MargaretThatcher.org which sets forth Thatcher’s 1979 Conservative Manifesto. Item 3.a. calls for a more prosperous Britain by “cutting income taxes.”

    DRJ (ec59b5)

  21. Moron, Alphie. Ask your mom in whose basement you live in to explain to you about long-term debt and income to debt-service ratio and whether she could give you a basement to live in if she did not have a thirty-year mortgage.

    nk (2f5778)

  22. Someone once said, “He needed to be killed.”

The world, unfortunately, is filled with people who could be described thusly.

If someone in NY just happens to off the whack-job posing as Iran’s President, would the world miss him?
    Would anyone?

    Another Drew (758608)

  23. Margaret Thatcher went to war with Argentina over the Falkland Islands.

    Perfect Sense (b6ec8c)

  24. Women in general make poor leaders. Most lack toughness (Thatcher, Meir) being exceptions. Ghandi and Benazir Bhutto and Megawati and the various female Presidents in the Philippines point to the dangers of female leaders who achieve position by inheritance (father/husband etc. was President).

Most women find dealing with aggression, threats, intimidation unsettling and don’t like it. To the point of avoiding it. Most women are not believable in making threats. Instead they radiate weakness and appeasement. Arroyo’s pathetic handling of the MILF in the Philippines (not THAT Milf, Moro Islamic Liberation Front you bastiches!) or the Communist Factions or Abu Sayyaf stand as pathetic appeasement worthy of say, Jimmy Carter.

Unless a woman is exceptional, and can operate to male standards in dealing with threats, she will fold like Maddy Albright clapping for Lil Kim. Women just have no experience in dealing with threats, not even the kind of ordinary schoolyard fights, bullies etc. that boys deal with growing up.

Does anyone seriously think Hillary is tough enough to give the order to kill bin Laden, or Zawahari, or NutJob? Of course not.

At her core, Hillary is weak, robotic, and easily intimidated aggressive men like those above. Though she’s good at political infighting, that is not the skill set needed to deal with say, Iran’s nukes and threats to say, incinerate Paris or NYC unless demands are met: kill the Pope for his latest remarks, submit to Islam, France and America cede part of their territory to an Islamic Republic.

It should surprise no one that women make bad political leaders when it comes to standing up to aggression and threats. The qualities needed to deal with that: ruthlessness bordering on cruelty, counter-aggression, masculine strength are counter to what women themselves perceive their positive qualities. Nurturing is a sign of weakness to men like Zawahari.

To the troll above: Iran has been at war with us since 1979, and certainly Khobar Towers not to mention their 9/11 Assistance to bin Laden (NOT stamping the passports of some of the Muscle Hijackers who transited Iran from Afghanistan on direct orders from Khameni). Killing our guys DIRECTLY in Iraq is an act of war also.

It’s time we started fighting back.

    Jim Rockford (e09923)

  25. Jim,

So you’re saying Ollie North, Michael “faster please” Ledeen and the other merry pranksters of the Iran-Contra affair committed treason when they sold weapons to Iran while we were “at war” with them?

And how do you feel about women serving in leadership positions in the U.S. military?

    alphie (99bc18)

  26. Yeah… sound a little stupid there, Jim.
I don’t like Hillary as a candidate, but she’s hard as a coffin nail.

    Leviticus (e5c086)

  27. Levi – Hillary may be as tough as a coffin nail when something is in her interest, but she acts like one on its side. easily rolling to and fro from nuanced position to more nuanced position as the winds and polls change in her pursuit of power. No depth. No principles. Easily read.

  28. Another Drew asked:

If someone in NY just happens to off the whack-job posing as Iran’s President, would the world miss him? Would anyone?

Drew, our friends on the left would absolutely salivate over such a thing, because they’d immediately blame President Bush and Vice President Cheney — as though it would have been a bad thing had they actually ordered it.

    Dana (3e4784)

  29. Dana…
You’re probably right, but why let nuts stop a sensible plan?
Off course, the Looney-Left is still trying to recover from the fact that a Demi-God of the Dem/Progressive Movement – JFK – was whacked by a Commie!

    Another Drew (8018ee)

  30. Addendum…
BTW, When Iran nukes Israel, who will the Left blame for the millions of Palestinian Arab deaths???

    Another Drew (8018ee)

  31. I actually think Hillary Clinton would be a stronger president than her husband though neck and neck with him in the lack of ethics or strong convictions department. It’s still a lot more likely that the first woman president will be a conservative and republican than her though. The nutroots left will savage her and some of their sites like Firedog and Kos are mainstreaming now. You can only take being called the names people supposedly in her own party will call her openly so many times before damage control becomes a big problem.

    Just Passing Through (ff997a)

  32. She was pretty good in the TV series THE FLYING NUN but she has become too liberal and SMOKIE AND THE BANDIT they did have that terrific car the TRANS AM her and BURT REYNOLDS
