Deport the Criminals First — Part Seventeen of an Ongoing Series: Illegal with Record Raped and Killed 10-Year-Old Child and Killed Four Others

Filed under: Deport the Criminals First,General — Patterico @ 12:01 am

[“Deport the Criminals First” is a recurring feature on this blog, highlighting crimes committed by illegal immigrants — with a special focus on repeat offenders. I argue that, instead of arresting illegal immigrants who work hard for a living, we should use our limited immigration enforcement resources to target illegal immigrants who commit crimes in this country.]

From yesterday’s Muncie Star Press:

Simon Rios was sentenced today to life in prison for raping and killing 10-year-old Alejandra Gutierrez, then leaving her body in a Delaware County gravel pit.

(Via Hazy.)

Alejandra was one of five people Rios killed. Four were children; three of those were his own. The backstory is recounted in the blog Missing and Murdered Children:

Alejandra Gutierrez was reported missing on December 8, 2005 after not returning home from school that day. Her mother watched her walk down the street towards her school bus stop at approximately 9:50 a.m. and that is the last time anyone saw her alive except for her alleged murderers. Extensive searches of the area failed to locate Alejandra.

A seemingly unrelated crime was reported to police during the early morning hours of December 13, 2005. Simon Rios a thirty-three-year-old illegal Mexican National called 911 to report that he had murdered his wife and their three children.

When police arrived Rios told them that he and his wife had argued about him doing household chores so he struck her with a pipe on her head, strangled her and then strangled their three children. Police found the four bodies lying on the bed where Simon Rios had positioned them. Simon Rios was arrested and charged with the murder of his family.

While incarcerated in the County Jail, Simon Rios indicated to authorities that he knew where they could find the body of the then missing 10-year-old Alejandra Gutierrez. . . . Rios eventually told authorities that he and seventeen-year-old Juan Rosales dragged Alejandra into his van. Juan Rosales raped Alejandra, and then he raped her. They eventually dumped her body in a remote location in another county. Her body was located based on the information given to authorities by Rios, it was frozen. The Coroner had to wait a few days for Alejandra’s body to thaw out before they could perform the autopsy.

And now, the disgustingly familiar details. Rios is an illegal alien. And this could have been prevented — because this illegal alien had been in the system before. The blog explains that in 2003, he pled guilty to domestic violence:

A police report said officers responded to a battery complaint at 4122 S. Calhoun two days earlier. Casas-Rios told police she was home with Simon Rios when he was drinking and the two argued.

Rios hit Casas-Rios in the head and abdomen, cornered her behind the front door and began to punch her in the head and abdomen, the report said. Officers saw hair stuck to the wall where Casas-Rios was beaten, the report said. Liliana, then 8, saw the fight, police said…

That wasn’t his only contact with the system:

In February 2002 Rios was found guilty of DUI. He received a suspended 90 day sentence, a one year suspended jail sentence and one year of probation requiring successful completion of a counseling program.

Who knows if deportation would have saved Simon Rios’s family? Maybe they would have gone with him. Or maybe they would have stayed here — perhaps to be interviewed by some liberal publication for a human interest feature on the heartbreak of families split up by deporting illegals.

But the rape and murder of Alejandra Gutierrez . . . that damn well could have been prevented.

Rest in peace, Alejandra.

    Yes.

    Rest in peace, Alejandra.

Indeed. Oh for a world without evil.

  2. Patterico –

I submit that no one on this site would argue with the deportation of any of the despicable human beings you’ve listed in this series. You’re preaching to the choir (i.e. people with a rudimentary grasp of morality).

If it weren’t for the fact that many conservatives attach the stupid fucking caveat “ANYONE IN TEH ILLEGALLY COUNTRY IS A CRINIMAL [sic] LOL!!!!!” to your proposition, I doubt it would face any opposition at all.

That said… give it a rest, man. If we want to see a skewed portrait of American illegals, we’ll go to Hot Air. You’re not convincing anyone of anything they haven’t already decided in their gut.

How’s this: if anyone comes forward to defend this guy, you keep going, full steam ahead.

Otherwise, let it go. I’d hate to see you put Michelle Malkin out of a job.

    Leviticus (35fbde)

  3. The Democrats are going to have a veto proof majority in the next Congress and Hillary in the White House. The flood of illegals will overwhelm us and cases like this will be a weekly occurrence. And I can’t recommend voting for those sell-out Republicans to anyone I know.

    Howard Veit (4ba8d4)

  4. Actually, Leviticus, it was Patterico who started the “deport the criminals first” campaign, not MM. I’m glad other media are picking it up.

And I have not heard of any race-based advocacy groups urging deportation of criminals first, so IMO it does face opposition. O’Reilly, for instance, picked it up and most of his liberal guests have not supported it at all.

  5. Hang the bastards – in public and on TV. Tie their carcasses to poles on the southern border with signs in Spanish telling those planning to enter the US that this is what happens to those who commit felonies, and who happen to be here illegally. Let vultures feast on their rotting flesh

No due process for ANY illegal from any country. No Constitutional protections. Automatic death penalty upon conviction of a felony. No appeals. No commutation or clemency.

And the moment a Mexican politician speaks out against this, issue Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and give the Blackwater folks official sanction have at them.

Damn, Horatio, that’s harsh! Yes it is.

Damn, Horatio, that’s stupid! Yes it is.

While we’re pissing on the concept of human rights, why not firebomb a major Mexican city every time an illegal alien commits a crime in the US?

    Leviticus (3c2c59)

  7. While we’re pissing on the concept of human rights, why not firebomb a major Mexican city every time an illegal alien commits a crime in the US?

As long as we have the concept of a nation-state, then there are rules to be followed vis-a-vis who is protected by the nation-state’s rules/Constitution/statutes.

Don’t want to be hanged. Don’t come here illegally and commit a felony. This is very simple, and has nothing to do with so-called “human rights”.

Besides, there are no “human rights”, only individual rights that are protected by a document such as a Constitution.

As far as firebombing a Mexican city, perhaps if we considered illegal immigration as an explicit declaration of war by Mexico, then, yes, let’s firebomb the affluent enclaves in Mexico City. Illegal immigration would stop overnight.

    Horatio (3e425e)

  8. Oh, the horror of it all. Contrary to what Leviticus thinks, it can’t be said enough and in enough places. We have plenty of criminals that are citizens; we don’t need illegals to add to the carnage.

  9. Horatio,

Let me guess. You are a nice churchgoing fellow who never made it to the New Testament?

  10. Let me guess. You are a nice churchgoing fellow who never made it to the New Testament?

Hardly, I’m one of those nasty “Jooooos” that run the world, and who were behind 9-11 and everything else that goes wrong in the US of A.

Old Testament vengeance, none of this turning the other cheek crap.

    Horatio (3e425e)

  11. Patterico?

  12. Enough, please. A thread about the death of a child should not deteriorate into a flame-war.

  13. This (I can’t think of a name for this POS) is from Guatemala, and his first defense was that we did not notify his embassy. His second defense was that he did not speak English well enough to help in his own defense. They (Delaware County and Allen County didn’t want to spend the money for a death penalty trial. Indiana taxpayers get to support him for the rest of his life.

  14. Patterico?

C’mon, man. I think my request is reasonable.

  15. Then lets introduce him to a little fronteer justice from the back of a horse a good stout tree limb and a strong rope

  16. Leviticus,

I disagree with your implication that I am presenting a skewed portrait of illegals. Every single one of these posts opens with a caveat that I don’t want to waste resources deporting hardworking illegals if we don’t have the resources to deport the criminals.

You think everyone agrees with my proposal? Then why isn’t it reality? If a proposal is screamingly obvious and benefits the public safety — but isn’t getting done — that’s the perfect proposal to push and push and push . . . until it does get done.

If you get bored in the meantime, skip the posts. They’re all clearly labeled, which makes it easy for you.

    Patterico (2a8eaa)

  17. As much as I loathe another one of these posts because its inevitably heartbreaking and makes me furious, I am always compelled to read them because it keeps this issue on the front burner where it needs to be. If these sorts of crimes aren’t reported on in blunt detail, I’m afraid a resignation and complacency or a giving up on any change will occur. Instead of fighting for what is right, a malaise will set in. And that is always detrimental to a society.

  18. “You think everyone agrees with my proposal? Then why isn’t it reality?”

    – Patterico

I think everyone who frequents your site agrees with your proposal… which means that you’re not convincing anyone who isn’t already convinced. Unfortunately, the bloc of “Patterico Readers” isn’t large enough to decide something so important as “reality”.

    Leviticus (b987b0)

  19. Thank you for the response, by the way. I hadn’t seen it when I posted on Part 18.

    Leviticus (b987b0)

  20. Unfortunately, the bloc of “Patterico Readers” isn’t large enough to decide something so important as “reality”.

Not on its own . . . but that bloc can talk to others.

For example, Michelle Malkin reads the site, and although she was talking about this issue long before I was, she has told me that my posts helped motivate her to try to take action to do something about it.

Similarly, if a smart left-leaning person like yourself talks to other people of similar ideology, and convinces them that this is a sound idea that transcends the partisan divide, I’ll be reaching a whole new audience.

A good idea that really has few if any drawbacks can easily go viral.

Don’t be pessimistic about our ability to change the world for the better. We can.

Btw, I’ve been really, really busy at work. I wasn’t ignoring you. Note who posted Part 18.

    Patterico (457bde)

  21. In my career, I was amazed by the amount of money my agency spent on the policing & providing of police service for illegal aliens. Astounding. And we wonder why hospital ER’s are closing in mass.

  22. “Note who posted Part 18”

    -Patterico

Yeah, I noticed that Jack Dunphy had posted it after I made my comments on that thread. But the point is that I wouldn’t have posted anything (including an exact repetition of my original question) on that thread if I’d noticed your response on this thread (which is my fault). Your response here was completely satisfactory; I just didn’t notice it, which is probably why my comments on the other thread appeared as ass-hattery.

    Leviticus (43095b)

  23. I was slower than usual in posting a response, but there were work-related reasons.

My trial settled, so I’m relaxed . . . until Monday, when the next one comes up.

    Patterico (2a8eaa)

  24. Are congratulations in order? I think the main way a prosecutor settles a case is via a guilty plea.

    DRJ (ec59b5)

  25. That is what happened. I’m happy enough with the result, but don’t go overboard with congratulations.

    Patterico (2a8eaa)

  26. Okay. Very small congratulations.
