I enjoy getting involved occasionally in the commenting on a few sites when I have time but mostly lurk as a reader only. I’ve noticed this alphie character hijacking conversations to the point where there was no focus in half the threads on a couple of sites. I know he was eventually banned from PW and I don’t see him any longer on several other sites. I assume he’s been banned on those sites also as I doubt he stops as long as he has any interaction with an audience. There have been a couple of sites I lost the habit of reading because he infects the threads like Jules Crittenden’s blog.

I followed a link from Instapundit over here and here’s this alphie character doing his usual. It’s one thing to have other points of view supporting their arguments. Even if those arguments seem specious the effort it takes to support them benefits every reader concerned, valid points are made, and my opinions may even be adjusted accordingly.

Alphie never seems to add anything topical to the conversation. Unlike a drive by troll, he seems to not just persist but increase his presence and as long as he’s engaged will derail any conversation to provide himself a soapbox. This eventually drives thoughtful commenters interested in a linear conversation away and if I represent any standard, casual readers also. Banning him now seems preferable to banning him later after commenters and readers lose interest in the site.

Look at a comment thread on patterico with 80 comments and it’s a pretty sure bet that a third of them are Alphie acting like your annoying 9-year-old little brother who has nothing intelligent to say, so he just spouts off semi-relevant drivel to annoy you and get a response. Another third is people acting like the annoyed 10-year-old brother and responding to it.

Alphie is a troll. His purpose on this list is to get you (and occasionally me) suckers to respond to his provocations. He has nothing to contribute to the conversation. Why Patterico hasn’t banned him, I don’t know, but at least we could stop feeding him. Just don’t respond people, please. I like reading comments on this site, but it’s gotten so that once I see a comment by Alphie, I just leave, because I know that I’ll have to wade through a mountain of inane drivel to see the interesting comments.

KinderUSA looks to be an acceptable charity to send money to if you want to help out Palestinians.

Unless he holds up another charity that does similar work as more worthy of donations, that is.

Is that such a hard concept to grasp?

If you’ve already exhauted your own search for reputable Palestinian charities, ones that don’t funnel monies to Hamas or Hezbollah, and that is the reason for your request, maybe none exist.

Why ask/demand here? The exclamation point must have been a mistake, as was the fourth request, right.
