Another Suspect in the Newark Triple Murder Is a Foreign National with a Record
We’ve heard plenty about Carranza, but little about this guy, who is still being sought:
Still being sought: Rodolfo Godinez: An arrest warrant was issued yesterday for the 24-year-old Nicaraguan national, whom authorities are calling a “principal player” in the crime. He is expected to be charged with three counts of murder and felony murder, plus weapons charges.
Godinez, also known as Rodolfo Gomez, lives on Midland Avenue in Newark, but at one time lived in the Ivy Hill Park Apartments.
According to neighbors in Newark’s Ivy Hill section, Godinez was often seen with Carranza, the two juveniles now in custody and a juvenile who was at large yesterday. Authorities said Godinez has been arrested several times on robbery and weapons-possession charges since he was 19.
Yet here he remained . . .
After this horrific crime can any sane person support the ideas of open borders and sanctuary cities.

Perfect Sense (b6ec8c) — 8/12/2007 @ 6:21 amThree promising individuals killed and one seriously wounded who have pulled themselves up in the ruin of the Newark environment; and the press continuously complains about the Iraq violence! We have heard of the 600,000 or so criminal aliens that are running around our country. One and maybe both of these lads seem to belong to that group. The pro-illegal alien groups usually ignore the 600,000 to give a humanitarian cover for the rights of the illegals. It is about time that the humanitarians consider the rights of Americans first. I hope this is the straw that breaks the camel’s back on illegal immigration. If this doesn’t do it, I’m not sure what will

Cheryl (bceb54) — 8/12/2007 @ 10:24 amSomeone in an earlier thread remarked on the similarities between this tragedy and the criminals/events of Clockwork Orange and that looks more correct with each new report. Society should help people get their lives back on track but, at some point, the first goal should be to protect society from dangerous people like this. If immigration tools like deportation can help do that, I say use them.
DRJ (bfe07e) — 8/12/2007 @ 10:49 amHow about we teach them something semi-useful, like sky-diving? Of course, there will never be any funds available for parachutes!
Another Drew (a28ef4) — 8/12/2007 @ 3:42 pmFrom the scattered details, I would suspect he came to the US with family as a child, and probably legally (he was born about the time when a large number of Nicaraugans came to the US to escape the Sandinistas). Which means ICE failed to deport him as a felon after any of those arrests (unless none of them led to adjudications of guilt?, or he actually became a US citizen at some point, and now claims a dual citizenship)–which is an even worse failure, given the sort of things, many of them far lower on the scale of criminality, ICE has been known to deport people for.
kishnevi (db1823) — 8/12/2007 @ 6:18 pmAccording to another report in the same paper: (emphasis mine)
He can’t be a citizen, if he was ordered deported. If they’re reporting his age right, he would have been around 11 when he was ordered deported.
LarryD (feb78b) — 8/13/2007 @ 10:59 amGingrich seems to be on the same page. Sounds like a man who’s running for something. I just wish it was for a Georgia Congressional seat….
