5. They did give it to someone from Indonesia a few years ago, who actually supports President Bush’s efforts in Iraq. His/her statement was basically, “It’s necessary to oppose tyranny”.
   [Pardon the lack of detail, but I’m not misrepresenting anything. Perhaps the unpopular opinion has resulted in little coverage, contributing to my vagueness.]

6. It was an ideology based not on observation and deduction but on faith and doctrine. We were rather weak on facts and figures, on causes and consequences, and shied away from arguments about practicalities. If defeated on one point we just retreated to another; we did not change our beliefs. We were, of course, believers in democracy. The trouble was that our understanding of it was structurally simplistic and politically naïve.

   I had to quote this from this brilliant article (from hotair) because it so brilliantly sums up The Mind of Betty and so many others. She is sooo wise and sophisticated! And we are just rubes among the uber-rube, George Bush.

   I am glad most of us do not believe as she does, or as the media do. I just hope we can survive them.
