Hot Air Gig

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 6:50 pm

Allah has broken the news so I might as well elaborate a bit: I’m going to be posting on Hot Air from time to time, likely beginning tomorrow morning. It’s a pretty loose arrangement; Allah says I’ll be “posting regularly but sporadically,” but I think it will be more sporadic than regular. It’s a great site and I don’t want to do anything to break it, so I’ll be posting only when I have a post that I think fits the site. I figure that may happen every once in a while, but probably not daily. (For example, my nonsense about the Sopranos ending and other run-of-the-mill crap won’t make the cut.)

What does this mean for you? Not much, I think. This site will pretty much stay the same, but on occasion, I’ll put up a post that directs you to something I’ve done at Hot Air. (I’m not going to duplicate my Hot Air posts here, but I will link them.) I don’t see any other huge differences on the horizon. I view it as a chance to pitch some posts to a wider audience on occasion. It’s an opportunity I’m looking forward to, and that I hope I won’t abuse.

  3. The first five websites I read every morning:

    Front Page Magazine
    Little Green Footballs
    Michelle Malkin
    Hot Air
    Patterico

  4. A benefit to both sites. New media rocks, and you’re definitely part of the reason.

  6. This will help Hot Air because most of us only go to Pattrico.com.

  7. hope that the illegal alien series makes the cut.

Funny you should mention that . . .

  8. Is it funny that when we hear ‘allah’, we think of hotair.com? I think it is :).

  9. Great news. I’m sure it will benefit both sites.

  12. Welcome aboard the HotAir crew. You’re a great fit for the staff and audience there, and it’s certainly a win-win proposition.

  13. So, you think Malkin’s argument set forth in “In Defense of Internment: The Case for ‘Racial Profiling’ in World War II and the War on Terror” was either correct or defensible? And you want to be associated with that?

If so, I misjudged your character totally, and you sicken me.

  14. aplomb,
I absolutely agree with you in regards to what Malkin wrote about internment. The premise of the book turned out to be inaccurate and failed to mention many relevant facts including the regret of government officials involved. I’d need my own blog to address that whole issue properly. No excuses and never again should be the theme, not well… maybe we should consider a similar measure.

But I disagree with your slam against Patterico. Being permitted to post well thought out pieces at hotair is a good thing and a welcome relief from the mostly fast food servings of headlines and opinions usually seen at hotair.

  15. Great news for both sites. You will certainly be in the best of company–congrats!

There is a slight problem for me, though. I usually hit this site during my lunch break, but the employer’s filters don’t allow Hot Air. So, anything you post there will have to wait until the evening. Sigh.

  16. Nice reasoning, aplomb. You jump from “if so” to “you sicken me” quite deftly. For your tummy’s sake, I assume hope this means you can’t be associated with such a blog any longer.
    /you will be missed.

    aplomb,

I don’t think there’s any law that says I have to agree with Michelle (or anyone) about everything.

I’d appreciate being judged on my own words. If you can’t handle doing that, well, that’s not really my problem.

    Patterico (2a65a5)

  18. Ok, fair enough. She sickens me, you don’t.

Still, that’s not someone I personally would accept a paycheck from.

    aplomb (7e0317)

  19. I object Patterico. That’s not the way blogs should work. First off, its very ineffecient for blogs to have “guest posters” – each blog owner should just find the time to tend to his own blog all the time without outside authors offering additional voices. Secondly, blogs don’t work well if you tailor the material to the specific image that other blogs try to cater to. It narrows the audience.

    Oh wait…..On second thought. Nevermind.

  20. Many congratulations to all concerned!

    Your assumption is incorrect.

  22. Awesome!! Congrats!
