  1. Occasional curiosity about how the groupies of the ancien regime are handling their utter collapse always drives me back to visit The Old Pontificator, and it’s always good for a hoot.
“Mickey Kaus reacts to the news that Glenn Greenwald is on his site.”

Yes, Mickey reacts all right. His eyebrows practically take wing back to the bat cave, (and I don’t even want to think of what a mess he was making in his underpants…did he think Greenwald was going do reach in and squeeze his nipples?) I know you can’t let this Greenwald thing go, Pat, because you invested so much sleuthing into it (hint: that’s why I steer clear of this place…too, too creepy), but someday you’re just going to have to face the reality that Greenwald is doing some damn fine work…the research he puts into it, his tenacity, and the quality writing to back it up make him a genuine Blog presence…while you are reduced to a mere snark specialist. One day in the not-too distant future, I see you hurling your Metamusil at the TV as Greenwald becomes a regular on the Georgie Boys’ show, and you’re screaming at your frightened wife and kids, “I knew him when he was Rick Ellenberg!”

  2. With six billion people in the world, few thousand Asinisistras are a realistic probability. Probably fewer than flat earth believers, though.

Well, yeah, he’s a shameless liar but he does it so pretty!

There’s more to writing that stringing words together, Asinistra. Otherwise, Jason Leopold would be Bob Woodward. And Greenwald would be Carl Bernstein.

Deb Frisch is a genuine blog presence.

  4. “And Greenwald would be Carl Bernstein.”

Pablo, in this sort of exercise isn’t the point to make a positive comparison? If Nixon hadn’t been such a slime would we remember Bernstein so positively?

  5. Hahhaa… that was really funny. I had to watch it a few times.

  6. Alan, I mention Woodward and Bernstein in the context that they at least reported on something that actually happened and was actually a crime, whereas GiGi does so much tilting at windmills and, well, making shit up.

To be honest, I spent quite a few minutes trying to come up with a couple of outstanding journalists’ names. It ain’t easy.

Nowadays Woody has shied away from Beltway crime in that its far too often the workd of one of his “sources.”
