On Not Shaking Sheryl “One Square” Crow’s Hand

Why might Karl Rove not wish to shake Sheryl Crow’s hand? See Dubya has the answer, and it has something to do with her one-square hygiene habits.

Here is why I wouldn’t shake her hand if I were to meet her.

  1. “We asked Mr. Rove if he would consider taking a fresh look at the science of global warming. Much to our dismay, he immediately got combative. And it went downhill from there.”

No counter-intuitive posts suggesting rudeness on Crows’ part. Also no reports that Rove was less than rude at their audacious questioning of the Imperial Gizzard. The Man/Child Prez and his sandbox playmate are far too insulated to justify
any comfort in their ‘good’ auspices. Linking to HOT AIR, are we? Just when the going was getting interesting.

  2. “Much to our dismay, he immediately got combative. And it went downhill from there.”

Self centered valley girls. “I want to talk to you, right now, about what I want, I don’t care that this is social function, and it’s because I want to, and I’m rich and attractive and left so I can and I will.”

Mr. Rove is a scholar and a gentleman. I would have F-bombed them, at least.

It seems to me the proscription on physical violence against folks who behave like assholes in social settings needs to be reconsidered. Yeah, that’s right, I’m calling Crow and David assholes and saying they both need a whack on the head or perhaps simply to be pushed away.

If a righty ‘invaded the personal space’ of a lefty, much less touched one, there would be screams of assault, battery, arrest him, imprison him etc. The left thinks ‘rule of law’ means their rules over-ride the law.

Cutting a lefty dead is more or less useless because they are soooo stupid.

  3. Thanks for posting that link on the Tuesday Night Music Club. I’m going to to back and buy the CD of David + David’s Boomtown, which I had 20 years ago, lost and never replaced…

  4. well, i don’t like rove, but it sounded like the women were the aggressors. sheryl came over to help “her” (the first one) out, and rove was retreating to his table when sheryl grabbed him. i can sense hostility and don’t like to be grabbed by hostiles, like any animal, i’m particularly touchy when i’m eating, i don’t even like to shake hands with folks when i’m eating, who knows, 15 seconds earlier they may have been flogging their log under their table.
one square of tp? i read a back-to-nature article recently where a couple set up a composting toilet in their barn; one rub o’ the crack with a big handful of straw and they were good to go.
the music biz is cold and cruel, fer sure. just a wee bit of ax-grinding heard in that piece, as well as way too much drugs and self-indulgence. i sure don’t envy these folks.

    I think not.

  6. “Mr. Rove is a scholar and a gentleman.”

I’m pretty sure Rove didn’t even graduate from college. Even if your definition of a scholar doesn’t include going to school, you’d think a scholar could figure out who his real father is.

  7. It must be lonely at the WH if the definition of White House Correspondent has been so broadly expanded as to include stinky fingered singers and creators of enviro porn!

  8. Rove is apparently on the receiving end of that kind of jackassery – from people who should damn well know better than to act that way – pretty regularly. I have second hand knowledge (as in colleagues and friends who witnessed it told me about it) of two incidents where Rove was at social events and people teed off on him, really laying into him. One was at a family/kids event, and the behavior was beyond inappropriate. At that event, after taking screaming abuse from some harpy about how he was going to prison and how he would be abused there and so forth, Rove left, much to the horror of most everybody there. I have no idea how often that happens to him, but if I know eyewitnesses to two separate incidents, there are probably more. Thing is, if you ditch your manners, you give the other person license to do exactly the same in return, and maybe escalate the situation, depending on what you did to initiate the contact. Manners and politics exist to mitigate human disagreements; if you discard them to practice some emotionally satisfying primal scream therapy on your hate objects, you change the rules of normal social interaction. “I was grabbing his arm, and he wouldn’t shake my hand.” Well, duh!

We should look on the bright side of things, however. Without HuffPost, we wouldn’t have stone cold proof that celebrities are just as stupid as ordinary people. Arianna’s bloggers are doing a lot to puncture the myth of celebrity superiority, at anything. And also on the bright side, it’s a good thing that KKKarl isn’t married to my lovely wife, who is generally very well mannered but would probably go into seek & destroy mode if some strange woman kept grabbing my arm and harranguing me at the dinner table. I love that girl…

  10. Byron York has an ‘eyewitness account’ of what happened between David, Crow and Rove. Oddly, over at HuffPo, they didn’t mention jabbing him in the chest. Probably just an oversight. I mean, what kind of person wouldn’t want to be jabbed in the chest by Sheryl Crow? Besides everyone with a soul, that is.

With Crow jabbing him in the chest, Rove turned to take his seat. Then, the witness says, Crow grabbed his arm. A few more words were exchanged, and it was over.

  11. Clearly something must be done about Sheryl Crow’s outrageous physical assault on poor defenseless Karl Rove.

    Shouldn’t she be “renditioned”?

    David Ehrenstein (fe7ef8)

  12. gab, what kind of a person would say “you’d think a scholar could figure out who his real father is.” about a man who was adopted?

At least he had a father and did not reproduce by fission like leftoids and other bacteria.

  13. Wait a minute

Is Sheryl Crow unaware of the codes of conduct surrounding unwelcome touching? Did she ask Rove for permission to touch him before she grabbed his arm?

    No?

Does she then hold herself aloof from behavior expected of mere college students?

    What an unsurprising double standard.

Reverse the action…what do you think the elites at HuffyPoo would be writing if Rove had grabbed Sheryl’s arm without permission?

Please don’t tell me the phrase “frog-marched” wouldn’t have come up.

    Darleen (187edc)

  15. Actually if Sheryl lives up to her “one square only” policy it’s not surprising that anyone would wrinkle their noses and walk away hastily.

  18. “One Square”?
I’ve got Crohn’s. There’s days when I have to use one roll.
If Rove wants someone to smack that woman, I’ll be glad to volunteer.

  19. Shouldn’t she be “renditioned”?

They tried torturing her by making her sit on a bidet, but her ass wouldn’t crack.

  20. I don’t get the link about Kevin Gilbert Patterico. Do you think she murdered him? Is that your innuendo? Or that she just ripped off his music? In the music industry, those stories are a dime a dozen. I hate that Gilbert met such an untimely death, but if he was so talented in writing music, why wasn’t his solo work popular?

Roger Waters claims that Gilmore ripped off some of his lyrics. Who knows. I’m not letting that affect my opinion one way or another since it’s merely “he said / he said.”

  21. #10 – “Inspiration for a new song: “One Square Sheryl.” Would it have a good beat and could you dance to it?

    Nah… I bet it would sound… Shitty…

    No?

I’ll poking her in the chest and grabbing her arm at the first opportunity… Which will be never.

I’ve made a note to stop hoping she tours this area…

Don’t be silly. It’s not like they would have made a video about it or anything.

  23. “I don’t get the link about Kevin Gilbert Patterico. Do you think she murdered him? Is that your innuendo?”

No. He killed himself, and stupidly.

But I am a huge fan of his music, and I think she done him wrong.

The Secret Service would twist her into a pretzel before she touched the ground…

  26. I wouldn’t shake her hand because of the awful things she did to “Begin the Beguine” in the bad Cole Porter movie.

  27. I wonder if Cheryl Crows “attack” was as offensive as was Bush when he tried to give a back rub to German Prime Minister Schroder.
Folks, if you dont see what this administration and its lying cronies are up to at this point, then you are really blind…most likely willfully so. Bush is as liar, Rove is a demented soul and Cheney is a first class liar and fascist. If you love them then you must hate America. No excuses now. You have had plenty of time and plenty of evidence of their lies and attempts to subvert the Constitution and their responsiblity for the deaths of tens of thousands. Those who support Bush after all that has been revealed are just like the Russians who condoned the invasion of the countries of Eastern Europe and the imprisonment and torture that resulted. Carrying cross and bowing one head in mock prayer doesnt change the crimes that Bush Co has committed.

    Charlie (55cd2b)

  28. The fact that we disprove those lies is lost on you, isn’t it…
