As the Monty Python folks used to say:

Oh, no, no, no, no, no. Yes.

Yes a bit.

  1. …and…the Media officially loses interest…

Nothing to see here…move along, move along.

  2. There’s a reason I hear the Spanish Inq” skit when leading democrats start talking…

That or the Dead Parrot skit…

  3. Obama does the Kerry two-step.

    Perfect Sense (b6ec8c)

  4. I think Obama’s problem is that his padrone, Mayor Daley whose son volunteered for Iraq, is not one of the cut and run crowd. Daley handed Senator Durbin his head when Durbin dissed the troops at Guantanamo. Obama has to have one act for DC and the national media and another for Chicago and his Bosses.

  5. Guess the dead won’t be voting for Obama then…

    Allegedly…

  6. I wonder about that too, Scott. Clinton got a very big boost from the Machine in 1992. I wonder if the ties are still there for Hillary.

  7. I’ve no idea, but I suspect whatever ties there were existed because of Senator Clinton. It’s just a feeling I get. If I’m right, then we know what to expect unless Daley figures out that she hates our troops just as much as Obama does, if not more (I can’t bring up the “We loath the military” quote enough).

I still laugh that A relative of the man that helped the dead vote was sent to FL in 2000 to make sure the vote-counting was done right. Oh the irony…

  8. NK,

Is Daley’s stance on the war causing him problems in Chicago, helping him, or a non-issue?

    DRJ (6984d0)

  9. Well, from the Central IL perspective, I’ve not really heard a thing about it. nk might hear more living there, but I’ve not.

Then again, I don’t read the Chicago papers.

  10. DRJ,

He was just reelected with a better than 70% majority so I imagine that it is helping him. The Democratic Party constituency in Chicago is a pretty diverse one but Mayor Daley’s base is centrist to conservative.

  11. Scott #7,
Thanks for reminding me about Bill Daley. He was a big deal in the Clinton administration. As was Rahm Emmanuel, now Congressman from Chicago. So I still wonder whether the Machine will go with Obama or Hillary in the primaries.

  12. The next Gov. Election we have, I’m attending a rally for ‘Roddy’ with a huge sign that reads: “The govenor steals money from my 56 year old mother” or however old she is during the next cycle…

I will get people talking about his raiding the Teacher Pension Fund for state money to, i dunno, buy crap or whatever he does…

Probably a jet or something so he can spend even MORE time in Chicago…

    I hate this state.

  13. I’m thinking that all of the talk about the “surge”, even though it isn’t any more troops that we had there before, is actually helping. Just the idea that we are “surging” seems to have created a reaction by Mahdi and his army by bailing out. The change in tactics is helping too.

    OC Chuck (53c026)

  14. Not that you’ll hear that reported by the MSM…
