North Korea May Have Conducted Another Nuclear Test (UPDATE: False Alarm?)
UPDATE: It may be a false alarm. South Korea has detected nothing. It sounds like it may be a real earthquake.

– Shonzu Abi, a high level Japanese spokesman says that the reports are a misunderstanding, steming from an earlier report that his government was “looking into the possibility of a second blast in the NK. He said “[there] is no report of an actual second test at this time”.
– This squares with a news release from the S. Koreans, stating they have detected no new tremors.
Big Bang Hunter (9562fb) — 10/10/2006 @ 5:39 pmThe first test was probably a fizzle. It is unlikely that they would do another.
Mike K (b64507) — 10/10/2006 @ 5:43 pmI see your point, Mike. Why waste the plutonium without further processing?
Christoph (9824e6) — 10/10/2006 @ 6:19 pmRemember our own history. In July of 1945, we had enough Uranium-235 for one atomic bomb. The scientists were certain that it would work, so it was never tested. We had enough Plutonium for two bombs, but the scientists were not sure that a plutonium bomb would work, so they tested one.
That meant that when we used the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, we used our entire inventory! If memory serves, we didn’t produce enough weapons grade fissile material for another bomb until December of 1945.
If the Dear Leader has actually tested twice (one of which might have resulted in less than the anticipated results), that means he has used up probably a third of his entire inventory of weapons grade fissile material. This is not a bad thing.
Dana (1d5902) — 10/10/2006 @ 6:22 pmoutside of their own self-serving declarations, there is little evidence that these commie slopes have actually tested a nuke.
assistant devil's advocate (7f5876) — 10/11/2006 @ 12:21 amyeah, a tremor. north korea has been known to set off large conventional explosions, and the area is prone to earthquakes.
north korea is china’s foil, being used against us by our strategic adversary, china. we must address china and north korea together in order to prevail, and here’s step one:
a law that mandates the country of origin be prominently identified on the outside of the package, so american consumers can vote with their wallets.
i don’t think walmart would like this law. i’m not sure if walmart is a loyal american company.
ada – Commie’s maybe (actually Marxist’s), but “slopes”. Only the SP’s are allowed to use racist epithets like that one.
