L.A. Times Power Struggle Ends?

Romenesko reports:

At least for now. Los Angeles Times publisher Jeffrey Johnson met with Tribune Co. execs on Tuesday, then returned to his paper and told colleagues that he’d reached “an understanding” with Chicago.

This is a good thing. Many have argued that severe reductions in the paper’s staffing would be the death of the paper. And with no L.A. Times to criticize, what would I write about?

Well, you could always criticize Big Lizards.

I know, I know, there’s just nothing to kvetch about, as we’re practically perfect in every way.

But you could always brace us for standing so tall above the rest of the ‘sphere that everyone else just feels like an intellectual midget (or gidget, in MM’s case). I would accept such a complaint in the spirit of worshipful awe that it’s meant.

See? There’s plenty still to write about: me!

O J Simpson, Paris Hilton, Scarlett Johannsen, XRLQ, the Olsen twins, and other celebrity gossip.

  3. You could always move on up to bigger fish. The NY Times announced that a decline in ad revenues would result in lower than expected earnings this quarter. Even Lefty shareholders can’t look the other way forever when Pinch and Keller are picking their pockets.

  5. Start with Slick Willie Clinton. Saw a preview of an interview with Prissy Crissy Wallace today. I guess the full interview will be on FOX Sunday or whenever Prissy Crissy is on. He got red faced and was screaming about people blaming him just because he turned down custody of Osama half a dozen times. BDS and the path to 9-11 has now got to him, pour it on and he’ll be ready for the rubber room in 30 days.

  6. Patrick,
You could write about the New York Times!I read an article about the LAT’s troubles in the NYTs yesterday.Mentioned bloggers, changes in peoples readings of newspapers, rich Angeleno’s wanting to buy the paper, the Chandler family,Dean et al,but nothing about dropping circulation. So you see, there’s another world (well coast) for you to clean up.
