What kind of person says this (check the second comment):
I’m not a liberal! The world is bigger than the conservative-liberal spectrum would suggest–and much bigger than, as it now is in the US, the spectrum of crypto-fascist on one end to moderates with tepid liberal leanings on the other!
My answer: a liberal.

I would vote for pinhead.

You’re using “liberal” as a synonym for “leftist”?

Hmm. I think he’s right that the conservative-liberal spectrum doesn’t describe nearly as much as people often appear to think it does; and I think he’s right that what we consider to be far left would be considered mildly left-of-center in many other countries. (Of course, what we consider to be far right would also be considered only mildly right-of-center in many other countries, a fact which is often forgotten with such polemics).
[Well, exactly. If I complained that the spectrum here was radical leftists on one end, and moderates with conservative leanings on the other . . . why, you might think I'm I conservative -- even if I denied it! -- P]
But then again: i’m a liberal, so maybe patterico’s characterization is valid.
