No Greenwald Summary Today — Patterico Sleep Now

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 12:01 am

I don’t think I’m going to be posting my Greenwald post today. It’s mostly done, and I think it’s plenty convincing. But I need sleep and a couple read-overs before it’s ready. Plus I’m waiting on a Photoshop. The Clam’s on the job.

I’ve got a lot of stuff on the back burner. I still have the transcript of Baquet’s remarks, which is mostly done. And I want to do a post about the front pages of the L.A. Times for the past couple of weeks — which have featured one sad Lebanese person after another, with barely a hint that Israeli civilians are dying too (and by design). A friend is lending me his dead-trees editions of the paper, and I plan to take photos of the front pages with my digital camera and post them. It’s just astounding.

Also, I may do an investigative post about the recent Times article on immigration raids in Arkansas. It would be interesting to see whether everyone in the town truly agrees with the pro-illegal sentiments expressed in the article.

But first we have to get this Greenwald thing behind us. And I gotta get some sleep.

Thursday, definitely. I think.

  1. “which have featured one sad Lebanese person after another, with barely a hint that Israeli civilians are dying too (and by design).”

You mean, the “aggressors” are taking casualties, too? Ted Rall is comparing the Israelis (and Americans) to Nazis again:

  2. yes, some israeli civilians are dying too, and by design.
about one-tenth of the number of lebanese civilians dying by design, to say nothing of the four u.n. observers yesterday. shouldn’t media coverage of the deaths be proportionate to the number of deaths on each side? if not, what other metric do you suggest? would an enhancement factor on the value of israeli lives, say, making them 3x the value of other lives, yield the kind of coverage you would call “balanced”? since most of israel’s weapons came from america, aren’t americans entitled to see the fruits of their largesse? is it unbalanced journalism to show pics of only sad lebanese, or should reporters scour the country looking for cheerful, happy, even giddy lebanese?

  3. I would suggest the MSM show some pictures of Israelis who have borne the brunt of Hezbollah attacks for years. Or maybe some nice Israeli martketplaces blown up by suicide bombers (or ‘witnesses,” as the arabic word more accurately translates). How about doing a better job of explaing how the terrorists hide amid civilians so the casualties (and thus, pics of sad, sad Lebanese) can be higher? There are plenty of ways journalists can portray this fighting more objectively.

  4. I encourage you to do a post on the immigration raids in Arkansas. I read that whole piece yesterday, wondering what the REAL story is!

  5. […] He’s been hyping it for days, but as Dizzy Dean once said, “It ain’t bragging if you can do it.” […]
