Free the Liberal Media!

Ace says we need to free the liberal media to speak their lunatic leftist thoughts.

I completely agree. (Also, we conservatives must be free to make fun of them for it, as Ace would agree.)

  1. …we need to free the liberal media to speak their lunatic leftist thoughts.

Don’t liberal lunatics already spew enough on the mediums called the “front page,” the “editorial page,” and the “evening news?”

  2. Setting aside the fact that I AM liberal on a lot of issues, I’ve long believed that the press’s tilt is pretty bad, and is primarily driven by two problems: 1) The lie they teach in journalism school, which is that a journalism degree means your trained objectivity can always be trusted, and 2) the vast majority of people who choose this profession are quite left-of-center.

If they would just say, “here’s how I voted last time, here’s my general inclination, but I’ll try to be fair anyway,” they would be trusted and respcted far more than they are now.

This is why well-established bloggers tend to be trusted–they admit to being biased but try to be honest. Or, they get a reputation for dishonesty and are only read by foaming partisans.

  3. This is not a nitpick.

We’ll make no progress until we start calling them what they are — leftists.

So make that “Free the Leftist media.”

These aren’t liberals we’re dealing with — and the newsroom of the LA Times isn’t full of a bunch of Harry Trumans. Their character and their approach to the truth reflects who they are — and who they is is the unprincipled leftists.

  4. From PressThink. I tried to post there today, but I think I’m blacklisted. But this guy, this journalist that believes the press should be figuring out how Bush is going to create the next crisis? None of the Press thinkers batted a pixel.

Free the media to state their opinions loud and proud. It was my favorite thing that Slate did during the last election.

    Dude, that would do it.

Bloggers would stop dead in their tracks.

Fonting an on-screen “(R)” or “(D)” after an embed reporter’s name on Iraq liveshots might be insufficient, though.

We’d need his work and home IP addresses to cross-reference against 6-month-old online comments.

  6. Uh . . . your slip is showing:

Hilarious Guardian error. Writer types in [Mark Steyn] in place of the word “Vagina” to circumvent filters, then copyeditors miss it. So, if you haven’t seen “The [Mark Steyn] Monologues,” it’s pretty clear you don’t know Guardianspeak. Daily Ablution classic, but be prepared to send money, or Burgess will eat you.

  7. FYI, Masha Hamilton emailed me and denied that she is the “Masha” who commented on this blog. I believe her.

  8. She has every reason to deny it. But Masha Hamilton is an MSM reporter who apparently spouts Hesbollah talking points. Just look at her bio and what she says about Israel’s “partial” withdrawal from Lebanon.

  9. Lately I have been holding a position on ‘turning-off’ the leftist msm by disengaging them, stopping subscriptions etc.
I have noticed lately however, that they may have embedded themselves in such a way that the stratagy of disengagment is not possible. To wit.
On morning walks 10 years ago every other driveway had a copy of the local rag on it. The local paper then had made some rather leftist comments regarding our police and Armed Forces, a rather lethal stance here in Port St Lucie, where there is a large proportion of the greatest generation and conservatives.
Now there is about one driveway in five that have ther paper delivered, yet the organization carries on and is profitable. The people voted with their feet and the paper still persists.
Because of cable/sat serv, we cannot cull out wacko programming. my entire city (170,000 strong) could turn off liberal hollywood output and NO ONE WOULD KNOW!
    any ideas?
