[...] If you don’t know who Sevan is, Wikipedia has its usual concise summary. See-Dubya was even pithier in a post at Patterico’s site earlier this year: Benon Sevan was the man as close to the center of the Oil-for-Food Scandal as it is possible to be–and who is accused of taking bribes to look the other way and let Saddam exploit the system. He has retreated to Cyprus and lurks in an apartment he inherited from his aunt–an aunt who, he says, gave him the $140,000 that is accused to be a bribe from Saddam. An aunt who fell down the elevator shaft of this building and died when the story came to light. [...]

Rosett clearly deserves a Pulitzer!

...in a world not ruled by Bizarro and moonbats.

But, I dare say, this is still Ismael meeting Queequeg. For while the legend is known, and Cap'n Anon hobbles on his peg, this whale of a tale is far, far from being revealed.

This reminds me of that scene in the movie Heat where DeNiro and Pacino meet up for a cup of coffee even though they're constantly locked in an epic struggle against each other.

If he were truly innocent, as he apparently says he is, and he were going to write a book stating his side of the story, he should offer to have her co-write that book. There is no one on the planet struggling to get to the truth behind this scandal more than Ms. Rosett and the fact that he doesn't openly welcome her with open arms is as indicative of his guilt as any of the other evidence. It does, however, provide small comfort that he's no longer enjoying the good life in Manhattan and the Hamptons like the crooks at the U.N. he used to work with still are.
