Protein Wisdom: Dick Cheney’s Speech and Talking Oatmeal

Jeff Goldstein has a nice post extensively quoting from, and commenting on, Cheney’s excellent speech on criticism of the war. And if you don’t like that post, you can read the post before that, in which he imagines what oatmeal would say if it could talk.

  1. …what oatmeal would say if it could talk.

I don’t need to imagine it — if oatmeal could talk it would make about as much sense as, say, Howlin’ Howard Dean, Da U-Boat Commander, or Dingy Harry Reid.

  2. On the subject of the lying bastards of the MSM —
This is news — the most recent Brookings’ Institution Iraq report (click on “TNugent” below for link). For some reason, you won’t find this covered in the pages of newspapers and you certainly won’t hear this information on the CBS Evening News, but its there nevertheless. And the source isn’t one anyone could describe as a shill for the administration. Max Boot in his column in the LA Times brings this to our attention, but why is it that we need to read an opinion column to find something so newsworthy?

The bottom line: The situation in Iraq (including both security and economy related factors, as well as political ones) is much improved from a year ago and getting better. This should lead us to conclude that the most important aspect of the recent flurry of “anti-war” cut and run activity, other than the falsehood of the arguments made by the Democrats and their gutless RINO collaborators, is the TIMING. Iraq’s parliamentary elections are less than one month away, and the Iraqis going 3 for 3 as far as democratic elections are concerned means likely defeat for the insurgency and, therefore, likely victory for the US, which is something unthinkable to the Democrat leadership in Congress, with but a few exceptions. In light of the most recent Brookings’ Iraq report, the cut and run argument is unmistakably a “we’re giving up, so you should too” message, designed to produce defeat.

The contrast between the facts — as shown by the Brookings’ report — and the MSM coverage, should dispel any doubt that where Iraq is concerned most of the MSM will lie without hesitation and when an outright lie is too risky, the real news can simply be buried, leaving only the leftist/isolationist spin.

  3. Maybe Cheyney is a wimp but now he is making amends by supporting his daughter against the president over the constitutional amendment on gay marriage
