Prediction

Filed under: Judiciary — Patterico @ 9:37 pm

Well, we all have to make predictions, even if they turn out to be wrong. Mine: McConnell.

My hope: Luttig.

If it’s Gonzales, then . . . well, then I’ll feel about this president the way Tony Soprano felt about his mom.

  1. I’m likewise guessing McConnell, and we could do a whole lot worse.

  2. Is America ready for a Supreme Court justice who’s a goofy looking mormon who’s argued that the First Amendment protects religious polygamy, is my question.

  3. Dunno. But I think he’d do well in the hearings.

  4. If the first amendment protects polygamy, then that sort of makes hash of the “legalizing gay marriage will lead to legalizing polygamy” argument. :)

  5. Note that I said “religious polygamy” – McConnell had things like the Mormon plural marriage in mind.

  6. So, is there a prize for the first person to guess the right answer?

I had been thinking it was going to be Edith Clement, but I’ve had more qualms about her recently. I’m going out on a limb and saying Alice Batchelder.

  7. The nominee will be a woman.

    PO or JRB…..

  8. Janice Rogers Brown would be very nice. It’d be great to see Patterico’s prediction come true, and watch the Democrats allow a white male conservative into the Supreme Court, and then watch them flounder as they try and find reasons to filibuster a black female.
