Who Hacked Tom Maguire’s Site?

Filed under: Morons — Patterico @ 4:01 pm

I ignored Bill Maher when he recently made the idiotic suggestion that 9/11 and Katrina were George W. Bush’s fault. Addressing Bush, Maher said:

On your watch, we’ve lost almost all of our allies, the surplus, four airliners, two Trade Centers, a piece of the Pentagon and the City of New Orleans…Maybe you’re just not lucky!

I’m not saying you don’t love this country. I’m just wondering how much worse it could be if you were on the other side.

After all, it’s Bill Maher. He is an inconsequential man, and when such men say silly things, they should be ignored.

But what’s going on when Tom Maguire calls Maher’s piece “very funny”?

Tom, you’re almost always so on-target, I’m wondering what happened here. Did someone hack your site, dude?

P.S. I’m filing this under “Morons,” but the reference is to Maher, not Maguire. I just think Tom is misguided on this one. I still love his site.

P.P.S. Didn’t we lose another airliner in November 2001? Why, yes — we did. 260 people died, including several infants. But that one was just an accident, so you can’t blame it on Bush. That means including it wouldn’t be funny — you know, like blaming 9/11 on Bush is.

  1. Was Bush warned about the Flight 587 crash prior to it happening?

  2. I think everyone, including President Bush, has been told that there’s a real danger airliners might very crash due to equipment failure. That warning is every bit as specific as any warning Bush got about 9/11.

Hey, if you and the other commenters want to dredge up (and waste time with) the old argument about whether Bush is responsible for 9/11, be my guest. I’m just pointing out that Maher’s real point is indeed to blame Bush for 9/11 and the hurricane; let’s not pretend otherwise.

I agree with you. Tom Maguire really missed the boat on this one.

It’s ironic that Bill Maher talks about Bush being “on the other side.”

The irony is that, if one compares the actual public policy positions of organizations like (1) the Communist Party USA, (2) al Qaeda, and (3) the American Democratic Party, it is amazing how often they adopt similar positions.

In other words, when it comes to actual positions on public policy, the Democrats (and Bill Maher, who almost uniformly echos the Democratic Party talking points) really ARE on the other side.

  7. Please help me out here.

I just re-read Bill Maher’s New Rules. I don’t see anywhere that he is blaming Bush for 911 or Katrina. I don’t even see 911 or Katrina mentioned, am I missing something?

Please show me where he is speaking about 911 and/or Katrina.
