Goldstein on Those Competing Narratives

Filed under: Current Events — Patterico @ 6:32 am

Am I the only one who’s noticed that wisecracking smart-aleck Jeff Goldstein is writing some of the best serious stuff out there on the Katrina blame game?

I didn’t think so.

  1. I follow Jeff’s site as religiously as I follow yours and John Cole’s, which is to say that I’m fanatical!

Jeff’s critiques of the Bush-bashing and of those self-appointed experts in governmental emergency response plans are msut reads.

However, today I’m having trouble accessing Jeff’s site. Is this true for anyone else?

Thanks Patterico for your excellent work, and your good taste.

  2. I can’t access the site either. This has been recommended reading on a few blogs today, maybe too much traffic has shut it down.

Keep upi the good work, Patterico!

  3. He indeed has had some of the best, if not *the* best commentary on this issue. I link up to something he’s written just about everyday.

BTW, I just installed the live comment preview plug-in at my site and love it. I had several requests from readers for a preview button, but liked the idea of *live* preview after commenting at your site even better. It’s worked out great. I’m now on the hunt for the HTML options like you have in your comments section as well – I’ve got the basics (bold, italics, underline) but not the blockquote, etc.

Ok, sorry to take that off topic. But yes, you’re right on Jeff. And, as Brian does, I follow your site, Jeff’s, and John Cole’s everyday as well. Daily must-reads.

To Brian: I’m having PW access issues, too.

  4. He’s having server troubles, but the post I linked is available to read (just not for comments) if you click on the link above.

  5. Jeff’s has not only been great commentary, but he has given exhaustive links to source everything he says.

Not that it makes a whit of difference to the “Blame Bush for Katrina” crowd.

Ironic that after years of hearing the Left screech that “Bushco” is fascist and Americans have lost their basic rights, the same crowd screams that Bush didn’t act like a banana republic dictator and flood the area with military troops before Katrina’s landfall.

  6. Jeff’s coverage has been absolutely fantastic. And I think he’s the cleverest and funniest man on the planet.

  9. “blame game?”

Who came up with the talking point that refers to accountability as a “game” ?

  10. Who came up with the talking point that refers to accountability as a “game” ?

Who said anything about an “accountability game”?

  11. “Who said anything about an “accountability game”?”

I haven’t heard ‘accountability game.’ I have heard ‘blame game.’ Why are people calling accountability a game?

  12. 1) Who came up with the talking point that refers to accountability as a “game” ?

    2) I haven’t heard ‘accountability game.’ I have heard ‘blame game.’ Why are people calling accountability a game?

Why are you calling Tom Cruise a homosexual?
