Just a Question

An L.A. Times editorial on the Plame leak says:

The questions that special prosecutor Patrick J. Fitzgerald is probably pursuing are these: Who gave Rove the information in the first place? Were there other White House officials who were gunning for Plame?

Bush owes it to the American people to order Rove to cough up some of the answers.

But, according to a Power Line reader: “Andrea Mitchell was asked, on MSNBC, whether it was generally known to news people, before the hullabaloo, that Ms. Plame worked for the CIA. She answered, somewhat reluctantly, that it was.” If this is true, why would it be so critical to learn how Rove found out?

  1. Because in order to be found guilty of a crime, Rove would have to have gotten the information from official sources. If he was just saying to reporters what he’d heard from other reporters, then the Agee law wasn’t broken.

So the Democrats are hoping that they can find the CIA HR file request ticket with Rove’s signature on it and the media is reluctant to report that a whole lot of them knew about Plame.

But this whole matter just proves what I always say: undercover work and nepotism don’t mix. (Really, I always say that.) Hell, my company has policies against hiring family members- the CIA apparently doesn’t.

And another thing- did Wilson buy Plame a gift with his Niger mission earnings? Was there quid pro quo? Kickbacks? Bueller?

  2. Fashionable circles in DC knew Val worked for CIA.

Fashionable circles in DC HATE Rove.

Why do they want to know how Rove found out? They want to know whom not to invite to their parties any more.
