Zbigniew Brzezinski: Neutral Expert? Or Democratic Shill?

Filed under: Dog Trainer — Patterico @ 7:21 am

Earlier this month, in an article I complained about here, the L.A. Times quoted Zbigniew Brzezinski regarding President Bush’s foreign policy, as if he were some sort of “expert” to whom we should be paying attention:

“The simplistic notion that you talk a great deal about democracy and twist a few arms and it will somehow come magically on its own is absurd,” said Zbigniew Brzezinski, who was national security advisor to President Carter.

In an article yesterday, we see that Brzezinski is officially shilling for Democrats (as if this were a surprise):

In the Democrats’ official response Saturday to Bush’s radio address, Zbigniew Brzezinski, the former national security advisor to President Carter, said: “This war has been conducted with tactical and strategic incompetence…. The president should provide the American people with a plan describing the key elements of a successful strategy in Iraq.”

When the L.A. Times quotes an “expert,” watch them like a hawk.

  1. And of course Carter’s presidency was such a superb example of “tactical and strategic” competence …

  2. Yeah — if he’s cited as an expert on incompetence, he’s got credentials. Especially on Iran. It was Carter who cut off the Shah and allowed Khomeini in.

Then there’s that classic photo of Carter and Bresznev kissing.

  3. Don’t just WATCH ’em like a hawk; swoop down, grab them in your talons, carry them back to your nest and feed them to your young.

  4. Yep, I’m gonna listen to the “Hero of the Iran War” telling me how to do it in Iraq!

  6. Don’t forget ZB helped Jimmy Carter give away the Panama Canal. Which the ChiCom’s now control.

  7. Since the majority of Dim-ocratic members of congress admitted in the past week that they are really not Dim-ocrats, but left wing anti-american radicals, who would you expect them to have represent them in a rebuttal to the President, someone with a proven track record as a winner or loser? Me, I always expect them to come out with another loser and as this proves, they have lots of losers to choose from. I have yet to be disappointed in their selections. The only thing I can’t figure out is ‘are they all inflicted with insanity or is it simple stupidity’?

  8. Patrick – The Times should get some credit for identifying the administration under which Brzezinski served. They could have identified him as “former National Security Advisor” and left the less-informed unaware of his political bent.

  9. He should watch out! The LAT labeled Sandy an “expert” 3 times from 4/04 to 6/04 and next thing you know Sandy is sticking secret docs in his underpants. An got found out, later.

  10. I don’t have any real gripes against Brezinski as such. I have lots of gripes against Jimma “the jerk” Carter.

Prof. Brezinski please explain the following. Given that your top military leaders counseled against a dumb ass attempt to rescue the American embassy employees seized by the war criminal Khomenei’s goons– why in the hell did you authorize a operation you knew was bound to fail?

As a reserve officer at that time, I heard nothing but contempt for the President and his immediate staff as well as accusations of deliberate murder of American military personnel by incompetent Democrats in the White House. As shocked I was to hear those charges, at this point in time I have no choice but to believe them.

  11. Hey, it’s been a long time since we’ve heard from ol’ Zbiggy! (and we haven’t missed him one bit)
Who better to comment on “tactical and strategic incompetence” than one of its foremost practitioners and a key member of the execrable Carter administration?
