Frist Apparently Accepts Specter’s Suggestion — How About Reid?

Filed under: Judiciary — Patterico @ 12:05 am

Sen. Specter has called for leaders on both sides to release Senators to vote their consciences on the issue of the nuclear option:

“I think the way to approach it is for both party leaders not only to release their caucuses from party-line voting but to urge independent voting on the issue,” Specter said. “I think if that were to happen there wouldn’t be a filibuster and some of these nominees might well be defeated.”

It sounds like Bill Frist has done that:

Frist, for his part, talks to his GOP colleagues in every forum possible — on the phone, on the floor, in small meetings, one-on-one in his office. Eric Ueland, his chief of staff, said the leader “has not made this a test of party loyalty,” nor has he offered legislative or campaign favors to keep wavering Republicans in line. “There are times and places where those tools might be appropriate,” Ueland said. “But on an issue that so directly goes to the core responsibilities of the United States Senate, none of those tools are appropriately applicable.”

Has Harry Reid done the same?

Has anyone from the media asked him?

  1. Has anyone from the media asked him?

Yeah, the LA Times is all over that story.

    Giggle, snort.

Sorry, I couldn’t keep a straight face as I typed that.

  2. People used to complain about democrats being disorganized. Now that they’re organized, they complain about that. People on the right sure are a bunch of whiners.
