Hutchison on Owen

Filed under: Judiciary — Patterico @ 6:19 am

Confirm Them has some excellent comments from Sen. Hutchison about Priscilla Owen. The comments include a statistical analysis of Owen’s opinions on the parental notification law. Turns out she was usually in the majority (10 out of 13 times). Also, although abortion opponents make it sound as though she always voted against the judicial bypass, that’s not true. Owen agreed with the majority in 4 of the 7 cases where the majority concluded the judicial bypass was appropriate.

  1. Do seriously think that the Democrats care about her record? This is all about an out of power political party determined to retain the only portion of the government they still control: the judciary.

  2. That’s funny, HV, who’s been making judicial appointments these past 5 years? and obstructing them the previous 6+?

Be interested to know where that particular piece of mummery is coming from?

Try identifying this quote: “Men born to freedom are naturally alert to repel
invasion of their liberty by evil-minded rulers. The
greatest dangers to liberty lurk in insidious
encroachment by men of zeal, well-meaning but without
    understanding.”
