L.A. Times Editors Say the “Los Angeles, Mexico” Billboard is Funny
This morning the L.A. Times editorial page criticizes Arnold Schwarzenegger for his stance on illegal immigration, saying (among other things):
Schwarzenegger also asked a TV station to remove a billboard reading “Los Angeles, Mexico” on the grounds it encourages illegal immigration. We know that he has a better sense of humor than that . . .
A lot of people don’t consider this to be a laughing matter. Interesting to know that L.A. Times editors do.
UPDATE: A commenter notes that the editors also compare opposition to illegal immigration to Nazi xenophobia:
[A]s someone born and raised in the shadow of the Third Reich, [Schwarzenegger] should also know better than to be fanning this anti-foreigner frenzy.
To recap: the concept of Los Angeles being retaken by Mexico through illegal immigration is funny. Those who disagree are reminiscent of Nazis.
Got it.

I thought it was funny that everyone was up in a tiff over a clearchannel billboard.

Even more striking is the sentences following the one you posted, all but saying Arnold is using Nazi-style tactics by drumming up an anti-immigrant frenzy. So I guess now wanting illegals gone is not only racist, but Hitleresque.

LOS ANGELES, AMERICA
Here’s the latest salvo in that “Los Angeles, Mexico” billboard war. Over the weekend, some patriots scaled the billboard and hung Old Glory over the sign: Looks like there are some L.A. residents who are not taking reconquista lying down….

Interesting choice of words for the title of that article Easy Target, Cheap Politics. Making up Nazi comparisons is the cheapest shot that can be made.

Did you hear that KFI is erecting counter-Mexico billboards in L.A. this morning.
Bill Handel spilled the goods at 9 am.
Flap has the story.
But, does anyone have pics?

The billboard pics are up at my site and the KFI site.

For two days in a row, Los Angeles Times has misreported the station’s call letters as KCRA, which is Channel 3 in Sacramento. The call letters for channel 62 is KRCA. Granted, nitpicking typos like that is kind of lame. But geez, wake up paper.

“The political correctness industry is in a tizzy right now”
The titular quote is from Arnold Schwarzenegger’s chief political strategist concerning Arnold’s recent remarks about illegal immigration. A survey of MSM articles about Arnold’s remarks reveals that to be a correct observation. And, most of the com…

The Nazis didn’t have an illegal immigration problem, no one was trying to break into Nazi Germany. They did have an illegal emigration problem. The Nazis closed their borders to prevent people, Germans, German Jews, political dissidents, Swing Kids and others from leaving Germany.

LA Times takes a big drop
The Liberal Always Times seems to be falling out of favor with readers. The circulation took a huge drop over the past year dropping 6.5 percent of its readers despite the fact that the economy and population growth are strong…

So in this case, the Nazis would be… Mexico. Which is actually fairly accurate if you know anything about Mexican politics.
Hmmmm, I wonder what LAT would think if the Mexican minimum wage of 10 cents an hour was enacted in LA? Grinding hopeless poverty is just so amusing.
