Another Scheer Correction

Filed under: Dog Trainer — Patterico @ 6:36 am

It’s yet another correction to a Robert Scheer column:

Pope — A Tuesday commentary on Pope John Paul II’s opposition to the Iraq war said William J. Bennett accompanied Michael Novak on a trip to the Vatican. Bennett was not on the trip.

Props to Bill Quick for having figured this out.

Another hit for those four experienced Times editors.

Note that Trib CEO says they hope to stem circulation declines, not that they will try to turn things around. Not encouraging to investors.
Also, note he says there were no factual errors in GM coverage.

  6. Interesting the LAT didn’t mention the author of the “commentary”. Two thoughts: (1) leaving out the author makes it harder for the reader to track back to the op-ed piece and figure out the context or significance of the error; (2) leaving out the author makes it harder for LAT readers or critics to determine the frequency of errors by the esteemed Scheer. If readers kept seeing his name attached to corrections, they might actually ask why this hack still gets column inches every week.
