KFI Radio Host Mentions Patterico
Xrlq says that KFI’s Bill Handel mentioned this blog on the radio this morning, as a way to keep up with the bias of the L.A. Times. I missed it, as I have the day off and was sleeping in.
Xrlq says that Handel butchered the pronunciation, but I don’t care — as long as he spelled it right.
If anyone is visiting as a result of this mention, please drop a comment and let me know. I have this theory that a blog mention on the radio rarely leads to much traffic, but I’d love to know if this is wrong.
UPDATE: Xrlq says Handel didn’t spell it. This illustrates the advantage of having a name like Xrlq, which must be spelled every time it is said.

He didn’t spell it out, but FWIW, his mispronunciation was as consistent with the correct spelling as a correct pronunciation would have been. I’m guessing you’re right about a minimal impact on traffic. My recent NRO reference, sans link, got me nothing. Ditto for 2003′s L.A. Times and Hugh Hewitt (radio) references. Links are everything.

Both Fmr Presidents Bush & Clinton botched saying usafreedomcorps.gov in their interview with Fox. “.org no .gov!” “freedomcorps.gov”. Geez, why can’t they just say THE WEBSITE, and let them show it on the screen.
I tuned in to Handel’s show this morning, but as usual it was 10 minutes of solid commercials. Okay, so I changed the channel after 9.5 minutes, but it wasn’t looking good. So if you’d like some information on redoing your hot water pipes or repaving your driveway I can help you there.
Satellite radio & hbo are the only way to go, sadly.

I heard the mention at about 0820 Pacific this morning. Xrql was right on both counts: you got credit for your LATimes bias watch and Handel botched the pronunciation badly.
Why not call his weekend “Handel on the Law” legal advice show and ask if you have a case?

I’ll have to take the credit/blame for this one. The staff on the show agreed to do a segment regarding the rise of the blogs in 2004. I was tapped to brief Handel on the issue and I included this site as one example among many. I didn’t announce it ahead of time because:
1. I wasn’t sure if Bill would actually say everything that I gave him in the briefing paper.
2. I didn’t want to have to deal with the potential prospect of other bloggers I knew lobbying me for a mention. (And I figured that plugging sites that I guest blog for would eventually be exposed as a cheap publicity ploy…not that I am always above that mind you.)
Sorry he didn’t spell it. But I aint the host – only a lowly producer.

I figured that plugging sites that I guest blog for would eventually be exposed as a cheap publicity ploy . . .
There go your chances of ever guest blogging on this site.
Not that you care, with your 50 gazillion other sites to contribute to.
