Why would they waste time on those stories when coverage of the plight of muslims in Vegas is so much more important?

Wow...now this is real news. Thanks so much for bringing this to our attention, as it is quite possibly the most relevant issue facing Americans in November: what does John Kerry really eat for lunch?!? Looks like a real credible source too, given their front page coverage of the NY Christian Coelitian's take on the 'Kerry agenda' as well.

:)

But no worries, Patterico...I'm sure you've covered the photo-ops of George W. "Let's pretend I can fly an airplane!" Bush with just as much scrutiny.

(And before you respond and tell me that your coverage doesn't have to be balanced, believe me, I understand that. Just having some fun, dawg. So there.

Re: the importance of what Kerry has for lunch -- you bet this story would be all over the late-night talk shows (Leno, Letterman, Conan) if it got some real publicity. It feeds the image of Kerry as an out-of-touch patrician.

And if it were the Republican who was the out-of-touch patrician, the story would have gotten the publicity.

Re: the reliability of the source:

Luckily you liberals don't judge a news source based on just one story. Oh, wait -- you just did.

Of course, you overlooked this story from the same paper about local Democrats rallying at the convention, or this story from that paper about young Democrats uniting for the cause, or this story (again from the same paper) quoting a local Democrat leader as praising Edwards's message -- etc. etc. None of which tells me much of anything, other than it's a little paper serving a little town.

But all of a sudden you can tell that the paper is a conservative rag, based on one story.

Was there a hidden story behind a Bush photo-op that was buried by our vaunted media? Tell us all about it. Oh, you don't have one? Then what, pray tell, is your point?

First question: when you state "If it were the Republican who was the out-of-touch patrician...", what do you mean "if"?

Secondly, as a cursory glance through what I actually wrote should remind you, I never claimed the newspaper is a "conservative rag"--rather that perhaps their penchant for what constitutes "news" is a bit different than that of, say, any other major news source as of 10:17PM EST that I can find. Come on, Patterico, don't you think if there was more to it that at least Fox would've covered it? Or are they being railroaded by that leftist Rupert Murdoch again?

Thirdly, with regards to the "hidden story" behind Bush's flight-suit dress-up day, I believe that would consist of his well-hidden National Guard records that the Pentagon can't seem to find. But it's no worry, because the good Liberal Media has been doing such a stellar job of keeping us up-to-date on that topic.

Lastly, jokes aside, are you trying to imply that Bush and Cheney are better suited as 'candidates of the people?' I'd really like to hear that one...

Well, you linked to your comment, so people can judge for themselves whether you damn well implied it or not.

As for what you could find as of 10:17PM EST, even the NYT reported this incident. Couple days ago, I think. They didn't make much of it -- but they reported it.
