Patterico's Pontifications

Venus to Pass in Front of Sun

Filed under: Space — Patterico @ 10:26 pm

It happens tomorrow (Tuesday) at 10:19 PDT, according to Reuters (so you know it must be true). But we probably won’t be able to see it from the U.S. very well.

It’s a rare event and a big deal, folks. Pay attention to the news tomorrow.

[Fringe] Leftists: Still Gloating About Other People Dying

Filed under: Dog Trainer — Patterico @ 5:37 pm

This morning’s L.A. Times finds it important to print this letter about Ronald Reagan (third letter down):

My tears are and were for the hundreds of thousands of Americans with HIV on whom Reagan turned his back. I weep for the scores and scores of men whose names, one by one, I blacked out of my address book. At a time when he could have shown real leadership in the face of a crisis, Reagan could not even say the word “AIDS” publicly his first four years in office. So, to paraphrase Bette Davis: If you can’t say something good about the dead, don’t say anything at all. Ronald Reagan’s dead. Good.

Philip Hitchcock

Another lovely sentiment from the [fringe] left. When they’re not mocking the relatives of the 9/11 victims, making fun of Daniel Pearl’s widow, or calling the late Pat Tillman an “idiot” or a “sap,” they’re busy gloating over the death of Ronald Reagan.

Thanks so much for sharing those evil inner thoughts, Philip Hitchcock of Venice.

UPDATE: I have edited the post to make clear that my sentiments refer to the fringe left. Obviously, not everyone on the left shares the childishly evil sentiments of Ted Rall or the moron who wrote the letter to the Times.

Back from Vacation

Filed under: Blogging Matters — Patterico @ 6:10 am

I’m back from ducking tornadoes in Kentucky. Regular blogging will resume later today.

P.S. I did a lot of reading over the vacation. One of the things I read was Eric Alterman’s “What Liberal Media?” I had browsed through it before, but I finally gave it a thorough read.

What a bunch of claptrap that book is! I will have a review/critique coming up within the next two weeks or so.
