Impossible to say from a comment you read on the computer. The point is, it's genuinely possible.

I had an attorney make a comment on my blog saying he was looking into filing a lawsuit against Spy Wiper. I hope so. I have contact information for the owner of Spy Wiper on my blog. I hope to help make his life miserable at the very least.

Spy Wiper is from the company Mail Wiper, Inc.

A whois lookup for mailwiper.com shows the following:

Administrative Contact:
Martinson, Rob
Mail Wiper, Inc.
8725 Roswell Road, #104
Atlanta, GA 30350
FAX: 770-518-1519
PHONE: 770-642-1117

Or I should say, it used to show that. It's since been changed to a PO Box. Guess he was getting some unwanted visitors.

Here's his email:
rob@mailwiper.com
postmaster@mailwiper.com

MailWiper, Inc.'s corporate information is shown here:
http://www.state.ga.us/cgi-bin/pub/corp/corpsearch?corpid=0232894
including Rob Martinson's home address.

They got me for $29.95 0n 2 March '04 by locking into my home page on msn. Nothing I tried, including crashing the computer would get rid of the popup. So, I went for their service. By the time I got their invoice, I contacted msn technical services, and spent the next 3 hours on the phone with their techies purging my computor of them. I never down loaded their software into my computor. I sent them an e-mail to cancel and found that, amongst other things I would have to snail mail them a hard copy of my invoice. I tried to print the invoice, and found only the heading prints, the part that contains the required invoice number will not print.
Anyway, a call to the Atlanta BBB about them shows that they are no longer in business at the address you show on your site. The latest address is Mail Wiper, Inc. PO Box 500517, Atlanta, Ga. 31150
I have filed a complaint with the FTC and have disputed the charges to my credit card.

I am also tired of these guys. Now I just leave the drive doors open, except I nearly knocked it off accidentally with my foot. I will also sign my name to the list.

I have started a lawsuit against Martinson of Spy Wiper fame. It is based on the North Dakota RICO law and ND law defining "computer fraud," which includes seizing control of a computer without permission (opening CD tray, hijacking home page) and causing harm (including lost computer time) to the victim.

The papers have been sent to the sheriff of Fulton County, GA and we are now awaiting formal service.

<strong>What is Spy ware?</strong>
The term spy ware refers to software programs made by unscrupulous marketing companies that allow them to snoop on your browsing activity, see what you purchase, and cause pop-up ads to appear on your computer.
