LOST: ONE $162 MILLION LOTTERY TICKET

Filed under: Miscellaneous — Patterico @ 8:55 pm

Ouch.

Moral: if you’re not going to hold onto your lottery ticket, don’t buy one at all.

UPDATE: Perhaps the moral should be: if you didn’t really buy the winning lottery ticket, don’t pretend you did. Someone could come along and prove they have always been the rightful owner — and then you could be facing criminal charges. Ouch!

MARS IN COLOR: COMING SOON

Filed under: Space — Patterico @ 7:54 pm

Many people are excited about the Mars pictures, but are asking why they are all in black and white.

Ask no longer. Color pictures are expected tomorrow.

I, for one, am excited. This ain’t Formula One racing, but it’s pretty cool.

WHAT WOULD HOMER SAY?

Filed under: Humor — Patterico @ 7:45 pm

Here’s a guy who is going to prison for falsely claiming his doughnuts were low-fat. (Via How Appealing.)

Does this sound like a Seinfeld episode to any one else?

HOWARD DEAN EXPLAINED REDUX

My favorite part about the flap over Howard Dean and the Bible is the way Dean started out the discussion:

If you know much about the Bible — which I do — to see and be in a place where Christ was and understand the intimate history of what was going on 2,000 years ago is an exceptional experience.

Then, of course, Dean showed his knowledge of the Bible by claiming that the Book of Job is in the New Testament.

What I couldn’t figure out was: why would a guy hold himself out to be an expert on a topic he clearly knows little or nothing about?

P.S. Your clue is: “the hyperlink knows” . . .

AN ALTERMANED STATE OF REALITY

Filed under: Morons — Patterico @ 6:13 pm

The next time some idiot (think: Eric Alterman) whines about how only six companies control the media, show them this. Then, to sprinkle in some humor, show them this.

THE FISKIN’S GREAT TODAY

Filed under: Fiskings — Patterico @ 5:56 pm

If you would enjoy a good fisking of a piece that says “Bush is popular because voters are stupid” — you’ve got two choices, matey: the Captain or the Shark.

My advice: read ’em both.

UPDATE: Zombyboy’s name doesn’t fit the whole sea metaphor thing I had going there, but he does a nice job on the piece as well. Thanks to Mahalo for the pointer.

VISIT THE CARNIVAL OF THE CAPITALISTS

Filed under: Blogging Matters — Patterico @ 12:01 am

Don’t miss this week’s edition of the Carnival of the Capitalists, hosted by a blog called “A Special Kind of Stupid.”

This is the first week I have entered the Carnival of the Capitalists. I was inspired by a Dog Trainer article I read (and blogged) earlier this week.
