Patterico's Pontifications

Finally, a partial birth abortion ban we can all agree on: the one from the great state of Ohio. The Sixth Circuit has just held that it does not violate Stenberg v. Carhart, the way the federal ban probably does (as I discussed here). And because this law was passed by a state, folks like Xrlq won’t complain about the Tenth Amendment implications.

If they want to butcher babies in Ohio, they’re going to have to do it the old-fashioned way: by dismembering them in the womb.

Former Illinois Governor George Ryan was indicted today on corruption charges. (Via Rosemary Esmay.)

You may remember Ryan as the idiot who commuted everybody’s sentence on death row in Illinois. As I described here, the lucky beneficiaries of this ridiculous act included murderers who had used a pair of scissors to cut open the victim, a pregnant woman, so they could steal her baby.

Gov. Ryan, I hope these people get the chance to thank you soon, up close and personal — in prison.
